Lake Walk-In-Water (Weohyakapka)
is one of the best-kept fishing secrets in central Florida.
This shallow lake (only 12 feet in depth at its maximum),
the largest in Polk County, is known by residents and serious
anglers as the home of trophy-size bass, as well as other
fish such as schools of speckled perch. The fishing is so
good because the water quality is rated "excellent"
by the Water Resources Department, and also because the quiet,
out-of-the-way lake is rarely used by waterskiers.
Walden Shores boasts its own boat
ramp and fishing pier, so for residents there is no trouble
or expense taking to the waters for a leisurely cruise or
some serious angling.
